Association of Natural Burial Grounds

Deerton is a member of the Association of Natural Burial Grounds.  

Planting Trees, Plants and Wild Flowers

Once a year, in February or early March, Tree Planting Day takes place. A whip (included in the plot price) or a more mature tree is planted by family and friends in memory of their loved ones.

The trees are chosen from this list:

  • Ash
  • Crab Apple
  • Field Maple
  • Gelder Rose
  • Hawthorn
  • Hazel
  • Holly
  • Silver Birch
  • Spindle
  • Wild Cherry
  • Whitebeam

Appropriate native, local plants and flowers may be planted on graves. Please ring the office if in doubt. Thank you.

eg: Common Figwort, Common Comfrey, Foxglove, Field Pansy, Greater Stichwort, Meadowsweet, Oxlip, Purple Loosestrife, Ragged Robin, Red Campion, Sweet Violet, White Mullein

Please note: Any non native plant or inappropriate object left on the graves will be removed.
